Three-legged prosperity frog – a traditional symbol of wealth and abundance

A traditional Chinese story tells of a three-legged frog that returned to a poor farmer carrying a gold coin in its mouth. This legend helped make the three-legged frog a symbol of prosperity.

In Feng Shui traditions, the three-legged money frog is associated with financial prosperity, protection of wealth and abundance. These meanings belong to symbolic and spiritual traditions.

Traditional placement: place the frog near the entrance, preferably diagonally rather than directly opposite the door, and orient it toward the inside of the home to symbolise wealth entering rather than leaving.

Traditional Feng Shui practice generally avoids placing the frog in kitchens, bathrooms, toilets or bedrooms. Living and dining areas are commonly preferred when the entrance is not suitable.

According to tradition, a coin may be placed in the frog’s mouth as an additional symbol of prosperity.
