The source describes the Sacred Heart as the Heart of Christ and a revelation of God's love for humanity. It presents devotion to the Sacred Heart as a path of faith, trust and abandonment to God and recounts the promises traditionally attributed to revelations to Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque.

Novena booklet (9 prayers): booklet printed by the Diocese of Fréjus-Toulon according to Canon Law; historical introduction and Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, approx. 15 × 10.5 cm. The source presents the novena as a recognised form of Church prayer repeated for nine consecutive days, with one prayer for each day. It also explains the symbolic meaning of the number nine through the Holy Trinity (3 × 3), perseverance and the nine choirs of angels.

The source recommends praying at approximately the same time each day, aloud if possible, with attention, gratitude and perseverance.

Fire safety: although the source says not to extinguish the candle during the nine days, never leave a burning candle unattended.
